WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Two U.S. voter-rights organizations have requested a federal decide to briefly cease a grassroots group from monitoring voter drop containers in Arizona for alleged voter fraud, the week after state officers requested federal prosecutors to probe the group for doable voter intimidation.

A lawsuit filed by Arizona Alliance for Retired People and Vote Latino alleges the personal group, Clear Elections USA, and its founder Melody Jennings are trying to “bully and intimidate lawful Arizona voters” casting early votes within the midterm elections.

Clear Elections USA describes itself as a “grassroots group dedicated to election integrity.” It helps former President Donald Trump’s false claims that his 2020 defeat was the results of widespread fraud.

For months it has been recruiting volunteers for drop field tailgate events, the place followers monitor poll drop off areas for alleged fraud.

The lawsuit was filed late on Monday within the U.S. District Courtroom in Arizona.
