Gokumi Studio recently unveiled the trailer for their 2023 summer anime Yumemiru Danshi wa Genjitsushugisha. This series follows two high school students who each believe the other dislikes them but wish only to express themselves and confess their emotions. The first season received rave reviews, prompting many fans to ask for a sequel season of Yumemiru Danshi wa Genjitsushugisha.

Wataru Sajou falls in love with Aika Natsukawa and cannot stop approaching her despite her ignorance of his affection. But soon enough, he realizes she cannot return his attention, so he begins distancing himself. Aika finds this behavior odd and begins suspecting he has some deeper motives towards her than just romantic attraction.

Aika is an upbeat girl who enjoys reading and has recently joined the Volleyball Club at Koetsu High School. Additionally, she serves on Koetsu’s Moral Public Committee and works at a second-hand bookstore. Besides, Aika knows Mina and Takaaki from her class; Mina, in particular, has strong feelings of independence toward Aika’s parents for financial support.

Though the series had a generally favorable reception, some characters were underdeveloped, and its story sometimes felt rushed. Still, it retained its audience by offering something fresh and original within the high-school romance genre based on Okemaru’s light novel published under Hobby Japan’s HJ Bunko imprint.

Kazuomi Koga (Rent-A-Girlfriend, Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible) will direct, and the anime will be animated at Studio Gokumi x AXsiZ. Michiko Yokote (Shirobako Prison School Cowboy Bebop Rurouni Kenshin) is in charge of writing series scripts while Masaru Koseki (Worlds End Harem Demon King Daimao World’s End Harem Demon King Daimao) adapting Sabamizore’s original character designs into animated character designs while Hajime Takakuwa (Rent-A-Girlfriend Spice and Wolf) takes responsibility for sound production duties.

Synopsis

Wataru Sajo has long been fascinated with Aika Natsukawa, his classmate from elementary school. Although she consistently rejects his advances, Wataru remains hopeful. One day, when playing soccer, a flying ball makes him realize the absurdity of his behavior, learning he is unworthy of pursuing her, and he withdraws himself from contact – surprising both Aika and himself, who believe this sudden change to mean hate for one another.

Mahoro was created by VESPER during the 1980s to fight alien invaders, yet she ultimately abandoned that role due to her limited life span and having lost both parents during wartime. Although once an effective combatant, she decided instead to serve Suguru Misato as his maid after losing both parents.

Mahoro may be known for her fighting skills, but she also enjoys cooking as much. She has an unparalleled talent for judging food quality, often being able to pinpoint both where it came from and its ingredients. When tasting something new, she screams with delight, which might alarm some; her friends know it means she has no problem enjoying every bite!

One of the most captivating elements of this anime is its two main characters and their relationship. The initial episodes focus on their interactions, which are incredibly moving; even though they barely interact during this stage of the storyline, an emotional bond quickly forms between them and begins to develop as soon as they meet again later on in the storyline.

After a slow start, this story gradually improves as time progresses. There’s plenty of character development and excellent animation, making this an entertaining anime with great pacing that should appeal to fans of fantasy genres and shoujo – though some might find its oddball nature unappealing; nevertheless, those who enjoy these genres should give this show a chance – it will pay dividends!
