New Orleans Saints huge receiver Michael Thomas has been positioned on injured reserve and can probably miss the remainder of the season due to a toe damage.
Coach Dennis Allen stated Thursday that Thomas will endure surgical procedure after an MRI revealed that the toe had not healed the best way the group thought it might.
Allen stated he did not have any particular timetable for Thomas’ return, however indicated he does not “anticipate that he’ll be capable of return this 12 months.” He stated the damage was a dislocated second toe, and that Thomas did every thing he may to rehab it while not having surgical procedure.
The choice means Thomas may have missed most of three seasons since his five-year, $96 million extension went into impact in 2020.
After Thomas missed greater than half of 2020 and all of 2021 due to problems associated to ankle surgical procedure, the Saints had hoped the seventh-year professional out of Ohio State would return to his All-Professional type of 2019, when he set an NFL file with 149 catches and completed that season with 1,725 yards and 9 touchdowns.
As an alternative, Thomas performed in simply three video games this season, catching 16 passes for 171 yards and three touchdowns.
Thomas had missed the Saints’ previous 5 video games. Allen stated Thomas labored onerous to rehabilitate the damage in hopes of coming again this season and avoiding surgical procedure.
