Kajang SILK Freeway flooded yesterday as a consequence of hour-long downpour, clogged drains – do not drive-by litter

A number of motorists on the Kajang Dispersal Hyperlink Expressway – higher generally known as the Kajang SILK Freeway – have been left stranded yesterday at round 5pm when flash floods affected KM25.6 of the route.

In line with the Selangor Hearth and Rescue Division director Norazam Khamis, eight fireplace engines and personnel from the Kajang Hearth and Rescue Station (BBP) have been rushed to the situation upon receiving a name, as reported by Bernama.

“On arrival, the hearth division sized up the scenario and located that the overflow of water onto the highway was as a consequence of blocked drains following heavy rain for over an hour. The estimated water depth was three ft (0.91 metres), making the highway impassable to any mild automobiles. Nonetheless, there have been no casualties reported,” he stated in an announcement.

Norazam added that surveillance by the police and freeway operator confirmed the flash flood finally receded about half-hour later. “The Kajang BBP’s operations commander, along with the police, helped smoothen the circulation of visitors and no rescue work was obligatory,” he famous.

The truth that the flash floods occurred due to clogged drains that made them much less efficient at coping with the continual rainfall is an effective reminder to all motorists to not litter from their automobiles. Drive-by littering is a criminal offense, with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) reminding the general public beforehand that offenders are punishable below Rule 52 of the Highway Visitors Guidelines 1959 (LN 166/1959) with a most positive of RM300.
