Honey App Review
Honey is a money-saving app that helps you find promo codes and discounts on everything from Amazon purchases to hotel bookings.
It also offers price history, best-price detection, and more. Currently, it works with 40,000 retailers.
Honey makes its money by charging 0.5% to 10% commission from partnering retailers. It’s part of 24 affiliate networks, including eBay, Groupon, and Rakuten.
Coupons
Honey’s browser extension finds coupon codes automatically on any website that it works with. When you’re ready to checkout, a small Honey icon will light up, and you’ll have the option to apply a code.
The Honey app is free to download and use on whichever browser you prefer. During signup, you’ll be asked to provide your name and email address.
You can also link up with other services like Facebook or PayPal. This gives Honey access to your profile and provides you with coupons that may not be available elsewhere.
However, this is also a potential privacy concern. This is because honey collects data, including details about what you’ve bought, where you bought it, and how often you shop.
Rewards
If you use the Honey app or browser extension to shop online, you can earn Honey Gold. These points can be redeemed later for gift cards to any store that accepts PayPal.
You can also earn PayPal shopping credit, which you can use to pay for anything you buy with PayPal. This is an excellent way to save money on purchases made with online retailers, even if you don’t need a cash-back credit card.
The Honey app also helps you find exclusive offers on various products. You can find them through a pop-up on the product page or a separate search screen.
Another great feature is the Droplist, which tracks items you’re not ready to purchase yet and alerts you when they go on sale. You can choose the minimum discount before Honey sends you a notification.
Droplists
Honey offers droplists on selected online retailers to track price drops and notify users when prices are lower. These droplists can be set to follow a specific percentage of the price drop or for a fixed period (for example, 30, 60, or 90 days).
To add an item to your Droplist on the honey app, navigate to a partnered retailer’s website and click on the h button. Then select the percentage drop you’d like to be notified of, or choose whether to keep watching this item if it gets cheaper.
Like Capital One Shopping’s Watchlist, Honey’s Droplist feature tracks prices and sends an alert when it detects a lower price. Unlike Watchlist, however, Droplist doesn’t factor shipping or tax into the price drop. It’s an excellent way to keep an eye on items you plan to buy at a specific price point in the future, and it can save you money.
Privacy
Honey is a popular browser extension that helps you find deals and discounts on items you’re shopping for. It works by identifying web pages that are part of a retail website and adding buttons.
You can also add items to a “droplist,” and Honey will monitor the price of that item for any drops, so you’ll know when it’s an excellent time to buy. It even works with Amazon.
It’s important to note that the way this feature works makes Honey a prime target for hackers. Anyone who can take over the server infrastructure of Honey will be able to hack into your account, impersonate you and steal credit card information.
Thankfully, Honey has a transparent privacy policy that’s openly available online. It lists all of the data it collects and shares, and it also explains how they use this information.
