Greta Gerwig Was ‘Terrified’ To Make ‘Barbie’ Film, Nervous It Might Be ‘A Profession-Ender’

Greta Gerwig is the director of critically acclaimed movies “Girl Fowl” and “Little Ladies”.

That’s why her fourth outing as function director has been seen as an odd alternative: “Barbie”, starring Margot Robbie because the titular Mattel doll and Ryan Gosling as her bleached-blonde boyfriend Ken.

Gerwig addressed that in a current look on the “Dua Lipa: At Your Service” podcast, telling the “Future Nostalgia” singer that she was apprehensive about taking up “Barbie” as her subsequent challenge.

“It was terrifying,” Gerwig admitted.

“There’s one thing about ranging from that place the place it’s like ‘Nicely, something is feasible.’ It felt like vertigo beginning to write it. Like, the place do you even start? What can be the story?” added Gerwig, who co-wrote the screenplay with husband Noah Baumbach.

“That feeling that I had was understanding that it will be actually attention-grabbing terror,” she defined. “Normally that’s the place the most effective stuff is. I’m frightened of that. Something the place you’re like, ‘This could possibly be a career-ender,’ then you definately’re like, ‘OK, I most likely ought to do it.’”

Along with Robbie and Gosling, “Barbie” boasts an all-star solid that features America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Simu Liu, Issa Rae, Michael Cera, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Rhea Perlman, Sharon Rooney, Scott Evans, Ana Cruz Kayne, Ritu Arya, Jamie Demetriou, Emerald Fennell, Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa and Connor Swindells.
