Dan McCafferty, Former Frontman For Rock Band Nazareth, Dies At 76

Rock followers are mourning.

On Tuesday, Scottish arduous rock band Nazareth introduced the unhappy information on Instagram that frontman Dan McCafferty died at age 76.

“That is the saddest announcement I ever needed to make,” wrote bassist Pete Agnew. “Maryann and the household have misplaced an exquisite loving husband and father, I’ve misplaced my greatest pal and the world as misplaced on of the best singers who ever lived.”

McCafferty was born in Dunfermline, Scotland in 1946, and was one of many founding members of Nazareth in 1968.

The band had plenty of U.Ok. hits, together with “Damaged Down Angel”, which McCafferty co-wrote, in addition to a canopy of Joni Mitchell’s “This Flight Tonight”.

In 1975, they launched the album Hair of the Canine, which included their solely U.S. High 10 hit, the totally cowl of “Love Hurts”, initially recorded by The Everly Brothers.

Over the many years, they continued to carry out and report music, with continued reputation in Europe.

Unique guitarist Manny Charlton died in July 2022 at 80.

McCafferty retired from the band in 2013 because of well being points, leaving Agnew as the one founding member left within the band. In 2019, McCafferty launched his remaining solo album Final Testomony.
