As an applicant, you will receive several benefits. These include expedited clearance for your entire family and the ability to enter certain countries without presenting your passport.

Applying for global entry

If you’re a frequent international traveler, you may want to consider applying for Global Entry. It’s an easy process that could save you a lot of hassle during airport security.

To apply, you’ll need to create a profile on the Trusted Traveler Programs website. In addition, you’ll need a valid email address, phone number, and personal details.

Once you have created your account, you can pay your application fee with a credit card. You’ll also need to provide a passport or other form of identification. After paying, you’ll receive a “Known Traveler Number” (or PASSED), an identifier that will help you pass the TSA Precheck background check.

Once approved for Global Entry, you’ll receive a paper RFID wallet to carry your identification. This ID will be sent to you within two weeks.

Global Entry is a five-year membership. As a member, you’ll be able to travel confidently and take advantage of TSA PreCheck benefits, including faster security lines at U.S. airports.

Adding a Known Traveler Number

Adding a Known Traveler Number to a Global Entry can be an excellent way to avoid long lines at U.S. Customs & Immigration when returning from overseas. The number is also required to join some expedited airport screening programs.

In addition, the number can be attached to airline loyalty program accounts. This will automatically allow future flights to connect Global Entry benefits to your reservation. You can add the number to your profile by logging in to your account.

To apply for Global Entry, you’ll need to pay a fee of $100. Once approved, you’ll receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) and a Global Entry card.

Adding a Known Traveler Number allows you to use self-service kiosks at select airports. Those kiosks are faster than traditional customs inspection lines.

You’ll need to fill out an application online to apply for a Known Traveler Number. After approval, you’ll receive your Known Traveler number within 7 to 10 business days. Your Known Traveler number can be used for airport screening and is valid for five years.

Using TSA PreCheck or Global Entry benefits

If you’re traveling to the United States from abroad, you should consider using TSA PreCheck or Global Entry benefits to avoid the long security lines and customs checks. Both programs offer expedited screening and express lines at the airport and customs.

Travelers who are armed forces or members of the Coast Guard can enjoy free TSA PreCheck status. But for those who don’t have a passport or are not a member of the National Guard, the cost is about $85.

Several travel cards reimburse the application fee. For example, the Chase Sapphire Reserve covers the cost. And the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Card also protects it.

To apply for TSA PreCheck, you must first make an appointment. During the meeting, you’ll be asked to complete an application, including a fingerprint scan. You’ll then be issued a Known Traveler number, allowing you to use the TSA PreCheck lanes at the airport.
