The vote is a defeat for Apple, which has opposed unionization efforts across the nation. It is a win for Communications Employees of America, which now represents the employees at an Apple retailer after separate unionization efforts at shops in Georgia and New York Metropolis stalled.
The tally was 56 votes in favor and 32 opposed. Roughly 94 workers had been eligible to affix CWA. Voting passed off earlier this week.
“The Penn Sq. Apple retail staff are a tremendous addition to our rising labor motion, and we’re thrilled to welcome them as CWA members,” CWA Secretary-Treasurer Sara Steffens stated in an announcement.

The Nationwide Labor Relations Board will certify the votes within the coming week. After that, Apple is required to discount with the union over working situations.
Apple has opposed the union, in response to a CWA submitting earlier this month, which alleged that Apple administration held anti-union conferences and threatened to withhold perks from shops that unionized.
Apple’s first unionized U.S. retailer, represented by the Worldwide Affiliation of Machinists and Aerospace Employees in Maryland, is making ready to start formal negotiations with Apple.
