Lincoln Park in Newark is an arts district known for housing the City Without Walls art gallery, Newark School of the Arts, and many independent artists working across various media. Additionally, this neighborhood hosts the world-famous Lincoln Park Zoo.

The History
Early in the 1860s, citizens came together to dedicate 60 acres of public cemetery land as the city’s first park. At first, it was called Lake Park, but it was later changed to Lincoln Park following Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. Before this point, it had been used for burials related to both cholera and Confederate prisoner burials at Camp Douglas.
In 1964, Lincoln Park District initiated an annual beauty contest open to girls and women aged 16 or above, crowning one as Miss Lincoln Park with a trophy prize for winning. Concurrently that year, Lincoln Park Zoo unveiled their brand new Farm in the Zoo attraction.
The festival offers an assortment of games, rides, and performances for the whole family at no charge; unlimited ride wristbands can also be purchased to enjoy every attraction available to us on weekdays at 6 pm or on weekends at 4 pm.
As Paris is raising his young family in this neighborhood, he understands its needs well and loves hosting events to bring everyone together. Past examples include pumpkin carving contests, Easter egg hunts, wine tastings, and ice cream socials, as well as block parties he hosted himself! He even hosted dances and concerts this season!
Rides
Lincoln Park Carnival features rides for people of all ages. Wristbands for unlimited rides can be purchased during weekdays at $25 and on weekends for $30; individual ride tickets may also be purchased from the ticket box. Carnival opens weeknights from 6 pm to 4 pm, and all proceeds benefit charities such as Hudson County Police Union and St Aloysius Church.
Lincoln Park Carnival rides include the AT&T Endangered Species Carousel with 48 handcrafted animals and two chariots, the Fun Slide, Pumpkin Maze and inflatable attractions, Wildlife Experience with its animals, as well as fall enrichment for them all.
The 2023 Lincoln Park Days Festival will include carnival rides, food and entertainment. Held from August 25-27 at Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Lincoln Park, there will be an entrance fee of $2, and rides require tickets. Hudson County employees are entitled to discounts when purchasing admission tickets for this event, which runs 6-10 pm Wednesday through Friday and 2-10 pm on Saturday and Sunday, respectively; weather conditions could potentially close down proceedings with a sprinkler system at hand to provide relief for attendees.

Little Italy Festa in August celebrates la dolce vita with longtime family-owned restaurants serving classic Italian fare alongside neighborhood newcomers who serve up traditional Italian fare like meatball and cannoli eating contests and handmade art, jewelry, and decor vendors.
Every June, Lincoln Square Greek Fest offers delicious Greek food right in our neighborhood! Devour delicious hummus and delectable gyros while tasting traditional desserts like baklava – plus live music and dancing to keep the party going strong!
Experience over 50 worldwide varietals at the Lincoln Park Wine Festival, held every September in Jonquil Park. Tickets include tasting sessions with food pairings or flat fees to taste by the glass; master sommeliers and brand ambassadors are on hand to assist in selecting options and answering any queries about what’s on offer.
Vendors
Experience local goods at this annual event! There’s plenty to choose from at this fair – from handmade soap and candles, artisan jewelry and pottery, food and drink such as pizza, sausages, burgers, ice cream, and more – not to mention live entertainment featuring dance and music performances by local artists!
The carnival offers many rides, games, and activities designed for people of all ages. Kids will love riding the mechanical bull or taking a spin in the Ferris wheel; other crowd favorites are sure to include the dunk tank and bungee jumping; clowns/jugglers, as well as car shows/animal exhibits, are always entertaining as well!
The Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District organizes this festival each year. Free to attend, it runs Wednesday-Sunday between September 2018 and October 2019. Animal Exhibits
Lincoln Park Zoo provides an impressive collection of animal exhibits. Visitors will discover everything from aquatic creatures and reptiles to furry creatures. Additionally, Lincoln Park Zoo hosts many animal-related events, such as its signature Run for the Zoo race and ZooLA auction, both of which raise money for its conservation work.
One of the most beloved animal exhibits at the zoo, Regenstein Small Mammal-Reptile House, features small mammals and reptiles from all around the world – an attraction sure to please children as well as adults alike! This exhibit is sure to delight all who visit.
Another wonderful exhibit is the Japanese macaque monkey forest habitat. These fascinating primates, also known as snow monkeys, are some of the northernmost primates on the planet, and this habitat can be found near Swan Pond with beautiful gardens decorated for fall decor.
Regenstein Exhibit for African Apes offers gorillas and chimpanzees for visitors of all ages to experience up-close as they interact with each other and their human caretakers. Kids especially will love seeing how close these animals get!
Attractions at the Zoo include its popular Winter Drive-Thru Light Show that attracts thousands of visitors annually, featuring an assortment of wild animals and captivating animation, in addition to special holiday surprises.
Car Show
At a car show, you’ll see an assortment of vehicles up for display, as well as food vendors and animal exhibits. Plus, this event is free and open to the public!
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – Lincoln Park Day Festival returns for its fifth year this Labor Day weekend and features vehicles as well as local non-profit community organizations to promote their services. Started by La Familia Music Group and Carnales Auto Club, it takes place each year at Lincoln Park at 4001 Durazno.
Festival attendees can expect carnival rides, games, BINGO, classic car show, and arts & crafts for an exciting and fulfilling weekend of festivities!
