Restaurants

Jennifer Aaronson graduated from Cornell University in 1992 and immediately took a job writing for an “overly dry economics trade journal,” but quickly found herself drawn towards food journalism; here, her ability for storytelling and following culinary trends would prove instrumental in success. After writing for various local publications, she then joined Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, where she eventually served as Culinary Director.

At MSLO, she managed a team of cooks and oversaw all food and entertainment content for various magazines. Additionally, she established two meal kit delivery services – Martha & Marley Spoon and Dinnerly – which provide fresh ingredients sourced responsibly with innovative recipes delivered directly to customers nationwide.

Boro6 restaurant, opened by Aaronson and her husband Paul Molakides, channels the spirit of European village taverns, where guests can find wine, cheese, sausages from nearby farms, seasonal salads, and unfussy weeknight meals served in welcoming surroundings that say welcome home.

Aaronson and Molakides hope their restaurant will become a neighborhood destination, but its warm hospitality combined with Aaronson’s unmatched talent for crafting exquisite yet simple dishes should help to ensure its popularity among both residents of Hastings-on-Hudson and beyond.

Marley Spoon, their first joint venture, opened in 2016. Since then, its culinary director has been co-host of Food Talk on The Travel Channel; she’s written for two of Martha Stewart’s blogs and hosted live food radio shows – not to mention authoring “From The Test Kitchen.”

Books

Aaronson resides in Westlake Village and currently works as culinary director at Marley Spoon, an online food delivery service offering meal kits to busy professionals. When she came across this position while browsing online, she knew it would be perfect! She found Marley Spoon while surfing the Web and immediately knew it would be the ideal job fit.

She also contributes to The Stir, where she has a particular fondness for books about Jewish culture and history – with specific reference to those on the Holocaust as she lost her mother in that tragedy.

Aaronson graduated from Parsippany Hills High School before going on to obtain her undergraduate degree at the University of Connecticut and later her graduate diploma at New York University.

When she isn’t writing or cooking, she enjoys reading, hiking, and watching sports (particularly Dodgers and Giants games!). Additionally, she knits hats, scarves, and shawls for charity projects.

Aaronson devotes her free time to volunteering as assistant chaplain of Conejo Jewish Academy in Westlake Village and engaging in politics; last summer, she interned for Congressman Henry Waxman in Washington D.C – something she hopes to repeat this winter.

The Jennifer Aaronson Memorial Scholarship Fund will award one or more graduating scholars/athletes from Oak Park High School who plan to pursue literature, journalism, education, marketing, advertising communications, or related subjects at college. This annual scholarship serves as a fitting tribute to this incredible person who loved their family, friends, and community so much.

She can be seen on TV shows such as Chicago Med (NBC), Bull (CBS), Law & Order SVU (CBS), The Good Fight (CBS) and Billions (Showtime). Additionally, she has narrated over 200 audiobooks, regularly appearing as part of The FilmReroll podcast, as well as attending training at Juilliard School.
