(Reuters) – Emmanuel Macron stated he had a “clear and sincere” dialogue with Twitter proprietor Elon Musk in regards to the social media platform’s content material moderation insurance policies, only a day after the French president had flagged his issues on the problem.
“Clear person insurance policies, vital reinforcement of content material moderation and safety of freedom of speech: efforts should be made by Twitter to adjust to European laws,” Macron stated in a tweet after his assembly with Musk on Friday afternoon.
On Thursday, Macron – on a go to to america – stated in an interview with tv present Good Morning America that he believed there have been “duties and limits” to free speech.
Researchers have reported a surge in hate speech on the social media platform after free speech advocate Musk introduced an amnesty for accounts suspended below the corporate’s earlier management that had not damaged the regulation or engaged in “egregious spam.”
Billionaire Musk took over Twitter on Oct. 27, paying $44 billion for the corporate, and has moved rapidly to provoke a variety of modifications to product and workers.
