The federal government on Saturday allowed export of 6 million tonnes of sugar on quota foundation until Could 31, in accordance with a meals ministry notification.
As per the notification, the ministry has allotted a uniform export quota of 18.23 per cent of the three years common manufacturing of the sweetener in operational sugar seasons.
Sugar mills can export themselves or by way of exporters or swap with home sale quota of another mills, it stated.
Sugar season runs from October to September.
