The Centre has permitted a 4 per cent hike in dearness allowance (DA) for central authorities workers and pensioners. Dearness allowance was final hiked in March with impact from January 1, 2022 in line with the seventh pay fee. With this hike, dearness allowance went up 3 per cent over the earlier 31 per cent in March. This rise in dearness allowance was based mostly on the suggestions of the seventh Central Pay Fee. Central authorities supplies its workers with a dearness allowance to assist them tide over the inflation-like scenario. 

Dearness Allowance is calculated as a share of the essential wage and is revised by factoring in inflation and costs.
